task manager " Lose your mind, not your lomo"
Life is unpredictable. So is your lomo. But you can always depend on the lomo to make some kind of weird sense of your world. Never let go of it, even if you let go of your sanity. Lomo box rule number 9

Polaroid-Style Cameras From Fuji Hit the U.S.
@ :: sms :: Jan 18 2012, 03:29 (UTC+0) | From: damon : More than a year ago, the death knell of the Polaroid camera was widely documented. In February, Polaroid began shutting down its film factories, as the technology faded to black. But lomographs, take heart. Fujifilm has stepped in with its line of Instax Mini instant-film cameras, which can be purchased for about $100 or so: a bit much for an impulse buy, perhaps, but cheap enough that a true fan can resuscitate some childhood fun without paying an arm and a leg on eBay... continued... |

The Cheap Plastic Camera That Could: Lomo Turns 25
@ :: sms :: Jan 18 2012, 03:29 (UTC+0) | From: damon : LOMO opened in 1914, developing optical instruments for the Imperial Russian army. The company developed Russia’s first motion picture camera but also specialized in night surveillance gear, rocket components and telescopes. The Lomo LC-A was originally designed to compete with inexpensive, high-quality Japanese compacts in the early ’80s. Initially, the LC-A proved quite successful. continued... |

@ :: sms :: Jan 18 2012, 03:29 (UTC+0) | From: damon : Lab Rat excitement is at its peak once again! Our call-out for entries has been successful, as we were flooded with your entries – it just goes to show that we’ve got a lot of talented Lab Rat stars in the community! Previously we’ve been playing with fire and other potent chemicals; now we’ve got less lethal (but exciting as always) experiments to have fun with. It doesn’t cost anything to try these new tricks – you probably have some of the necessary tools lying around in the house. All it takes is guts! Determination! continued... |

RedScale Film Shows Analog Photography Is Not Dead Yet, Thankfully
@ :: sms :: Jan 18 2012, 03:29 (UTC+0) | From: damon : Leave it to the crazy Lomography heads to keep the flame of analog photography alive and kicking in this cold digital world of ours, like an '80s top-of-the-charts song always resisting to die: Their new RedScale Negative 100 film gives a vision of the world in intense reds, smooth oranges oranges, and mellow yellows look to all your analog photographs, but also having highlights in other colors, which appear in an unpredictable way. continued... |

The International Lomography Project of the Year – The Future is Analogue – September 23-28, Cologne, Germany
@ :: sms :: Jan 18 2012, 03:29 (UTC+0) | From: damon : For the fifth time we are invited to present the world of Lomography at the Photokina 2008 in Cologne, Germany. This year we have chosen the theme “The Future is Analogue” both, as a statement of our belief in an analogue future, and a celebration of the unique creative film use coming directly from the one million + Lomographers, who devote themselves to creative analogue photography, embrace analogue lifestyle, and who are the very core of who we The Lomographic Society International are. continued... |

Jackievisions Photo Community Essay
@ :: sms :: Jan 18 2012, 03:29 (UTC+0) | From: dragan : Hi all, this is jacklievision. You know, in regular weekdays I attend an Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and it happens that I'm writing a nice essay about online photo communities for my smart&clever Mass Media class final examination. Being a member myself, Lomography.com is one of my hunting grounds (along with Flickr and JPG). I'm particularly interested in what users think of their own community and this is why I need the help of all of you friendly Lomographers around the globe... continued... |

The Lomography World Congress London 2007
@ :: sms :: Jan 18 2012, 03:28 (UTC+0) | From: damon : In the event of the year, as not to say - the event of the decade - the international Lomographic community will gather to celebrate the wild and addictive, yet totally legal and ever so sweet fruit that is Lomography. The seventh Lomography World Congress is set as a tribute to the Lomographers of all times - past and present realms - and is dedicated to the future of Lomography, with the modest plan to issue a manifesto of the Lomographic mission in the decade to come. continued... |

Lomo LC-A+ Amiga Keren Fedida… The Start of a Beautiful Relationship
@ :: sms :: Jan 09 2012, 03:07 (UTC+0) | From: damon : I’ve never been much of a matchmaker. But sometimes a couple seems so right for each other, that you can’t resist. That is how the relationship began between professional photographer Keren Fedida and her new bff, the LC-A+. I thought, “I simply must get these two together!” Keren was well-versed in the high-end SLRs, with all their fancy-pants knobs and switches. But I knew she would swoon when she saw how simple and elegant the LC-A+ was. conitnued... |

Ignore the Rules - It's Time to Change Them
@ :: editorial ::
Jan 18 2012, 03:28 (UTC+0) | The debate caused by the recent editorial, In Search of Lomo Tradition: 100 Years of Shooting from the Hip, posted by CCOH has revealed opposing schools of thought within our lomographic community. On one side there are those seeking change, on the other there are those who are quite happy with the way things are. Is it time to take sides? Is it time to choose a new direction? Is it time for us to really start ignoring the rules? Lets look at posts by two users outlining opposing points of view. continued...

A Trip Through the Island of Cheung Chau
@ :: lomo travels ::
Jan 09 2012, 03:05 (UTC+0) | The sea was undecided: whether to batter the pier or allow the star ferry and confusing mix of other vessels safe passage on her back. By the time I made it to the Lamma pier she had decided on the latter. Nick came wearing his trademark hat and after a short exchange with a friend of his along with some oolong tea- we headed to the Cheung Chau pier. The sun broke free a few times allowing us the luxury of watching the sea and surrounding islands become illuminated by her faint shadow. After a few photos and some vacant looks at the ocean we arrived at Cheung Chau. continued...

It's Only Rock and Roll but I like it
@ :: lomo travels ::
Dec 19 2011, 00:57 (UTC+0) | Strong coffee. Strong coffee and a hot samosa at 5 in the morning. A strange way to start a tour perhaps but this is a tour that rewrites the meaning of the word strange. The night before was the first concert at oslos Rockefeller venue. A sold out show, a great venue, a blistering serena maneesh set to start the fire. Then back to emils house to sleep for 4 hours, wake up, eat and drink the aforementioned breakfast, crawl into a small toyota van and hurtle at 100km/h to stavanger, on the mountain road. continued...

Delving a Little Deeper into the Lomographic World of ccoh
@ :: interviews ::
Oct 13 2011, 04:18 (UTC+0) | No-one polarises the Lomo community more than ccoh. To some, he is a highly skilled photographer with a knack for the revelatory, each of his pictures being like a frame from an indy road movie that uses his own life as the script and the locations. To others, he is just a shrewd marketer who recognised that the one thing missing from the Lomographic society was sex, so he delivered it in a series of intimate images of women naked, offguard, and vulnerable in hotel rooms around the world. It made his Lomo home the most heavily trafficked ever (35,000 hits today!) and opened the gates to a flood of imitators. continued...

A Photographic Journey Through the Lens of Paule Saviano
@ :: interviews ::
Jul 03 2011, 03:01 (UTC+0) | He first picked up a camera at age eleven, began working for local publications and politicians would give him cash for photos of them making speeches. His first big break came at a young age when shooting the Porno For Pyros concert for Green Peace in front of the white house. A week later the band called and asked him if he wanted to take photos of their tour. For the next two years he zig zagged across the country photographing bands like Jane's Addiction, Cure, Radiohead, and Smashing Pumpkins for magazines and labels. Welcome to the photographic journey of Paule Saviano. continued...
